Drawing Update, Layout URLs, Screenshots + More

First initial release of new drawing tools, improved sharing of layouts via URLs, temporary chart Maximize/Minimize toggle, a new dedicated screenshot button, all polished with some visual accessibility enhancements to the UI.

πŸš€ Initial Drawing Toolkit

Ok our hands are up. We'll admit that the limited selection of drawing tools on MMT were in desperate need of love. Today, we're happy to announce the first initial drawing toolkit is now live! Whilst not in their final form within this initial drawings update, they are already a huge quality of life improvement on the previous tools.

Whilst from a user's point of view, drawings may seem like a trivial expectation, building such capability whilst maintaining a buttery-smooth user experience is no small task.

πŸš€ Drawing Tools

Here is the list of drawing tools that have been either improved or added in this first iteration.

Horizontal Line - This will render an horizontal line at selected y-axis coordinate.

Horizontal Ray - Renders a ray to the right or left of the selected x & y coordinates

Trend Line - Select two points to select for a trend line to be rendered. Includes Right & Left extension option.

Rectangle - Select two points to select for a rectangle to be rendered.

Brush - Used for annotating the chart. Will remain active until Esc on keyboard.

Focused in scope, this first initial selection lays the majority of the groundwork for most of the other common drawing tools found on charting platforms.

⭐️ Drawing Mini Menu

With each drawing that you plot, a dedicated mini menu will be displayed. This will allow you to change the properties of the selected drawing. Below is an example of the Trend Line drawing tool's options available within the mini menu

⭐️ Drawing Quick Tips

Within this update we have also implemented some small but important UX improvements to ensure plotting drawing elements feels natural. These little additions are ultimately intended to speed up your overall workflow.

Quick Delete - Backspace - Deletes the selected drawing.

Cancel Action - Esc - Will cancel the render and placement of a drawing tool currently being plot.

Stop Brush Tool - Esc - By default the brush tool will continue to indefinitely plot with each click and hold of your mouse. To stop this process press the Esc key.

⭐️ Future Improvements

In the future, there are a number of features & mechanics regarding drawing tools that we still wish to implement. Here are some of our intentions moving forward:

Full Drawing Tool Suite

This first iteration on drawing tools were selected as these should form the basis for the vast majority of other tools you may be familiar with. From Fibonacci Retracements to Fixed Range Volume Profiles, we plan to add a wide selection of drawing tools, accompanied by planned MMT exclusive tools, unavailable elsewhere.

Object Tree

Organizing drawings is often an integral aspect of a trader's workflow. Standard visibility & locking toggles are planned on a per drawing basis, but also alongside the ability to group drawings together. We are also considering the ability to allow the ability to nest groups to allow greater flexibility and management of drawings.

Additional Configuration/Styling

There are plans to incorporate further customization to your drawings in the future. These will range from positional text labels and timeframe visibility options, to eventually the ability to attach alerts.

Templating

Often particular combinations of style attributes will often be re-used. Providing a method of quickly applying pre-set preferences to drawing tools is extremely valuable. We appreciate how critical this element is within the underlying drawing mechanics, and ensure that it will be added in a future update.

⭐️ New Sharable Layout URLs

Back in our Layout Management update, we offered the ability to share layouts and templates between users via the export and import function. For the most part, this functioned well.

However, larger, layer and widget-intensive layouts could sometimes result in issues upon importing. Another pain-points was due to due character capacity limits on the clipboard. Both needed to be tackled in a cleaner approach.

From today users will be able to share layouts via dedicated URLs! Now, once you select to 'Export' your layout, a unique URL will be generated and copied to your clipboard. This URL can be shared far and wide, without any clipboard issues. To import, simply click the shared link. Providing you are already logged in, you will be redirected automatically to the Market Monkey Terminal with the layout loaded, ready to use.

Layout Strings

An alternative method is pasting a Layout's unique string via the 'Import Layout' function.

You can also import via this method by taking the 64 characters that are shown at the end of a Layout's URL.

πŸš€ New Maximize/Minimize Chart

Within MMT you have the ability to dock multiple charts within the terminal. Although this provides a great method to monitor multiple charts at the same time, there was perviously no quick method to enlarge and focuse a single chart.

The latest addition to the terminal's UI is the Maximize / Minimize button. Simply select the chart you wish to enlarge, and click the Maximize button. This will fill the entirety of the terminal window with your selected chart. To return back to your docked layout, click the Minimize button.

⭐️ Fresh UI Appearance

The UI has has a fresh lick of paint with inputs and selections changed from blue to yellow. This fresh appearance will also help provide a better contrast from the native dark UI of the terminal itself.

In the future we plan to allow some custom theming options, including a light theme mode. Although it didn't quite make the cut this release, it will be on its way to your terminal very soon.

πŸš€ New Screenshot Function

There is no better way to spread love and joy with loved ones than with a screenshot of the Market Monkey Terminal. In today's update, a dedicated Screenshot button has been added to the top right of the terminal's UI.

Clicking the Screenshot button will capture an image mirroring the size and appearance of your entire terminal. From here you will be presented with options to 'Copy to Clipboard' and 'Download'. Images are in PNG format.

πŸ› Bug Fixes

  • Large Layout Handling - The new Layout URLs should resolve the majority of the clipboard capacity issues that were causing the terminal to cras.
  • TPO Volume Profile - Profiles & Naked Extensions remain rendered now when outside the viewable area on the chart.
  • TPO Volume Profile - When aligned to the 'Right', added space between itself and subsequent TPO profile.
  • TPO Value Area Rays - Fixed an issue with TPO's Value Area rays were not rendering fully across the merged range when including the current session's profile.

πŸš€ Liquidation Heatmap

Chefs over at MMT HQ are currently working on a predictive Liquidation Heatmap.

They are still experimenting and working out some kinks, but it shouldn't be long before it's been fully baked, ready for public release.

⭐️ New Footprint Styling

Footprint styling will be getting some love soon with new styling for Delta and Total Volume modes. Below is the new look Footprint Profile in Delta mode.

This new styling is particularly useful when applying one of the grading options within the Footprint Layer's settings, allowing easier distinguishing between high delta or high total volume nodes.
